Art Class Inspiration - Pictures
March 2012
Kindergarten through second grade students recently designed their own crayons in a creative art lesson about getting along. The inspiration for the lesson came from the book, The Crayon Box That Talked, in which all the crayons in the story must look at each other’s strengths and differences in order to work together. Students then decorated their own colored crayon with special words and drawings about themselves. All the crayons were then placed in a giant crayon box outside the art room so everyone could see that each one is unique but together they can create many wonderful pictures.
The creativity seen coming from the art room will continue to flourish with the addition of new art tables. The tables will better support the many artistic and imaginative projects happening each week in art. Some upcoming projects include making masks, weaving with yarn, and painting. Students entered the art room very excited and surprised to see the new tables and were eager to sit down and begin working.
