Making Connections through our Buddy Program - Pictures
Year 2011-2012

St. Christina has a Buddy Program which pairs students of different grades together. The Buddies are paired at the beginning of the school year and develop a friendship throughout the year. This year the eighth grade students adopted second grade students. This adoption process started with a ceremony where the eighth grade Buddies shared cards and certificates of friendship, which were handmade. Next, the pairs of students blessed each other with holy water by making the sign of the cross on their partner’s forehead. Throughout the year, the eighth and second grade students will spend time together reading books, celebrating holidays and enjoying each other’s company. The pairing of eighth and second grade students is especially unique since both grades will be celebrating a sacrament during the school year. The Buddy Program also links first and seventh grade students, as well as Kindergarten and sixth grade Buddies. The bond established between buddies is something all of the students really treasure, and remember for a long time.
