Fifth-Grade Students Research Native American Cultures - Pictures
November 2011

The fifth-grade students at St. Christina School compared and contrasted different Native American tribes.

Mrs. Kovacs’ students focused on how location of the tribe impacted important survival aspects, such as housing, food, transportation, and clothing. After learning about the early people of each region, the children constructed Apache pouches, teepees, and totem poles. They also compiled their knowledge in a report that included tables, maps, illustrations, and a written account of their findings. Our fifth-grade students have a newfound appreciation for the Native American cultures.
