Mrs. Degner’s social studies students have been hard at work learning about early groups of homo sapiens and the Indians of the Pacific Northwest. In sixth grade, the students created “tribe booklets” that included information about how homo sapiens received their tribe and individual name as well as their job, housing, and special activities. In fifth grade, the students created totem poles to show how Indians used them to tell the story of their family’s history, brave deeds, memorials, or mythological adventure.
