A Special Visitor - Pictures
June 2012
The students in Mrs. Joan Baley’s homeroom received a special visit from the homebound parishioner they have been writing to all year. Jenny Lush was born August 1, 1915 in Detroit, Michigan and has lived in St. Christina parish for the past 20 years. Mrs. Lush especially enjoyed her correspondence with the students in room 19. Throughout the school year, students wrote many cards and sent small gifts to Mrs. Lush to let her know she was always in their thoughts and prayers.
Mrs. Lush, accompanied by her daughter, felt it was important to stop by to say thank you and to meet all the kind students who had made her smile throughout the year with their letters. The students asked questions about her age, when she made her sacraments and places she had traveled . The “Remembering the Homebound” program gives each classroom at St. Christina a chance to connect with a parishioner who is not easily able to leave their home environment by writing to them during the year. It is not often that the students get to meet the homebound parishioner they wrote to in person, so the visit by Jenny Lush was a special experience for both her and the students.
