Students Share Views on Bullying and Care about Environment - Pictures
December 2011
High School Students Share Their Views on Bullying - Bullying is a serious problem. It can affect anyone, anywhere, and at anytime. Marist High School students, along with their advisor, Mr. Oak, conducted a panel discussion with the St. Christina fifth-grade students. Our students were able to hear the perspectives and stories of older students who have lived through some similar scenarios. The panel shared personal accounts on different types of bullying and offered ways of handling the situations to stop the bullying. This outreach from the Marist students gave some excellent insights into the damage bullying does, and also offered options on how to reach out for help. Thanks to the group from Marist, for sharing their experiences to help prevent further bullying situations.
5th and 6th Grade Classes Learn To Take Care of Our Environment - Our 5th and 6th grade students were invited to the Mt. Greenwood Library to learn the importance of taking care of our environment. The program was sponsored by Science Alliance. The students were shown firsthand about recycling, composting, and much more. Our students also were involved in building a model land and water ecosystem to witness the problems and benefits of landfills. The students really enjoyed and appreciated this fun and educational approach to learning more about the world we live in.
