Faith Formation for Adults and Children with Developmental Disabilities

SPRED is a unique ministry for people with various intellectual and developmental disabilities or learning disabilities. The SPRED ministry welcomes children and adults into a small faith community where they form friendships with people from the parish who accompany them on their faith journey. SPRED helps each participant to recognize the presence of God in all of life and it also prepares them for full participation in the sacramental life of the parish.

Currently we are seeking volunteers to help reestablish SPRED at St. Christina. Please note that you do not need to have prior experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to volunteer with SPRED, as training will be provided to all volunteers. Volunteers are prepared to offer respect, hospitality, meaningful experiences of faith formation and prayer grounded in love to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

If you are interested in learning more about SPRED, please join us for an information meeting on Thursday, June 12 at 7 pm in the Parish Center, or contact Joe Quane at jquane@archchicago.org.
