Religious Education Volunteers Needed
Faith: The Next Generation - Pass It On! - Boldly go where many have gone before and help pass on the Good News of Jesus Christ and our Catholic faith! This fall, over 300 children and young people, grades kindergarten through grade eight, will sign up to learn more about Jesus and our Catholic faith. As of this time, we are in need of two fourth grade, two fifth grade, and one sixth grade catechists to teach them. You can help by becoming a catechist for Religious Education.
As you nurture the faith of our young, you will learn and grow as well. New this year, we have a training program to help you get started on your journey. Religious Education classes begin on September 8, 2024. We will have a meeting for new staff prior to the start of the year. Please contact Pam Waldrom so she may answer any questions you may have about the role of the catechist.
We are also in need of additional substitute catechists, parking lot help, classroom aides to assist new catechists, a paraprofessional for two kindergarten children, and a tech aide for occasional events. For additional information, please email Pam Waldrom, Coordinator of Religious Education, at pamwaldrom.stchristinaRE@gmail.com, or call or text Pam at 773-780-1438.
All volunteers must have a background check and Virtus training prior to volunteering. The required paperwork for working as a volunteer in the parish is found by CLICKING HERE.
Religious Education Program is looking for young adults to adults to help with our program. We meet approximately three Sundays a month from 8:15 to 9:45 am.
Volunteer Teacher: We are looking for young adults 18 and over to teach your faith to students in grades K through 8. You would be responsible for a lesson plan each Sunday, along with teaching the class. We ask that you would be reliable, responsible, and enjoy the gift of our faith. We would ask that you attend our staff meetings three times a year.
Teachers Aide: 7th grade through high school - You would be responsible for helping teachers in their classrooms as an aide, taking attendance and helping students with craft projects. We would want you to be reliable, and willing to come three Sundays a month.
Office Aides: 7th grade through high school - Aids in the main office including but not limited to distributing letters and bringing notes to the teachers, picking up attendance from each teacher, and hall monitor.
All of the above are very gratifying! If you are someone who enjoys working with children and are interested in volunteering, please contact Pam Waldrom, Coordinator of Religious Education at 773-780-1438 or pamwaldrom.stchristinare@gmail.com.
