ST. CHRISTINA HIRES CARRIE SPANO AS PRINCIPAL

St. Christina is excited to welcome Mrs. Carrie Spano as our school’s next principal. Mrs. Spano brings nearly 20 years of experience in Catholic education to St. Christina. For the past 14 years, she has served as the Science Department Curriculum Coordinator at Marist High School. Mrs. Spano’s teaching and leadership experiences at Marist align well with the vision of St. Christina. She possesses a strong academic track record and a keen eye toward the future of education, but above all she is a devout believer in the value of Catholic schools and is very familiar with the hierarchy of education on the southside of Chicago.

A Chicago native, daughter of a Chicago police officer, and proud product of Catholic elementary and high schools, Mrs. Spano is eager to make St. Christina her new home. She is a resident of Orland Park, where she lives with her husband Joe, a Dean at St. Laurence High School, and her three children who attend St. Michael Elementary School and St. Laurence High School. Mrs. Spano is a current Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership candidate in the prestigious Mary Ann Remick Leadership Program for Catholic School Leaders at the University of Notre Dame. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Chicago and completed course work at Loyola University Chicago.

Beyond her merits as an educator, Mrs. Spano is a dedicated and energetic leader with a warm and outgoing personality. We are confident she will be well-suited to lead St. Christina into a new and exciting chapter. In the coming weeks, she is excited to meet the faculty, staff, students and families of St. Christina.

Let us pray for Mrs. Spano asking God to fill her with the grace of her vocation as educator and leader for our wonderful school community
